A Prayer....
Jesus, give us a heart for Your people, help us to hear the cries of the lost.
Let Your dreams become our dreams and Your ways, our ways Lord.
Use us for Your glory. Amen.

Camp Report
By Richard Nicholls. Jan '97
Students Aflame Camp '96 was a huge week. As it was my first Students Aflame camp I didn't really know what to expect, which was probably a good thing. I certainly didn't expect that it would be as amazing as it was.
Anyway, it was an important pit stop for many of us and especially me on the long narrow road. God certainly did some major engine overhauls, topping up of radiators, adjusting steering and in some people just some fine tuning. For others it was a time where God revealed a vision for their life.
It certainly sheds a new light on God's concept of time when you witness the enormous amount of work He can do in one week if we allow Him to. There were a number of recurring themes throughout the week, some of which were dynamically presented by the brilliant teacher Wayne Alcorn, others by the guest speakers, and some arose in group discussion time.
A central focus in Waynes inspiring message was the importance of preparing for leadership which included a look at the leadership commitments. challengees, and the factors affecting growth as a leader.
I was challenged in a number of areas especially seeking first the Kingdom of God in the knowledge that other things will follow from that and the need to avoid cynicism. I also felt a sense of urgency rather than my usual apathy toward fufilling God's will for my life and a willingness to "Have a go" in exercising some of the other gifts of the Spirit. We have a responsibilty to be prophetic people and to hear the groans of this generation and act in the name of Jesus Christ.
The final revelation I received from the camp is that too often we try to complicate the message that Jesus preached. In doing so we overlook the simple truths of the Gospel. This was highlighted in Sheldon's message on the two greatest commandments.
As you can probably gather it was an exciting and memorable week. I pray that the work begun on the camp will continue, that the friendships formed will be strengthened and that Students for Christ will shine brightly across campuses in this state throughout 1997.
I would also encourage those who couldn't make the camp to try and be at the next one coz it's bound to go off.
