A Brief Summary of Students For Christ at The University of Western Australia

Students For Christ (SFC) has been at UWA since 1989 and currently has approximately 60 members. SFC is an officially recognised Christian group at UWA through it's affiliation with the UWA Student Guild.

Students For Christ UWA currently has only one volunteer staff worker, namely Trent Arnold yet he has been well supported by the students of the SFC committee. The SFC committee is responsible for the smooth running of the club in accordance with the policies outlined by the UWA Student Guild.

Students For Christ at UWA is made up of students from a number of Christian denominations, namely Assemblies of God, Vineyard, Anglican, Churches of Christ, Charismatic Catholic and other Pentecostal Churches.

SFC conducts weekly lunchtime main meetings that include worship, prayer and a message. Discipleship groups for Christian members are also conducted weekly and at UWA there are 6 such groups. There are two SFC Prayer meetings weekly and SFC supports a monthly Prayer meeting with the other Christian groups on campus.

With almost 13,000 students attending this University to reach them and tell them about Jesus Christ has been no small task. SFC employs a number of techniques such as two on one witnessing and surveying to speak to students on campus. As well SFC advertises itself through creative and humorous Posters.

However there has been recent concern over our effectiveness and profile as a Christian Organisation on campus. To address these issues SFC UWA is undertaking to become more student orientated, that is to serve students and their needs, rather than purely speak on the gospel message. Such action therefore will include initiatives such as a free student lunch and SFC being involved in lunch time sport teams.

Overall, Students For Christ at UWA is looking forward to the many challenges that come in being an Evangelistic Organisation and is thankful for the enthusiasm of the Christian students that go to make up our organisation. We also are excited that students on our campus have become Christians and discovered the love that God has for them.
